It’s Sunday and I wake up to a cold world covered in frost. There’s a glittery haze in the air, so after some morning coffee I grab my cameras, hop on my bike and head out for a quick loop around the neighbourhood.
Winter does not seem ready to realise it’s grip quite yet, but we’re close now.
I absolutely love the image on the left: The slight orange tint of the light in the trees as the morning sun was fighting through the haze, the low clouds and fog adding soft layers in the background and the white house standing in a field of white frost. Beautiful!
I walked out on the field to take it, and then I sat down low amongst these dries flowers, remnants of warmer days, to get the photo on the right.
This bike has brought me so much freedom. The ease of which I can get further away from home and into nature is something I value dearly. On top of that I get to move, breathe in the fresh air and it is so easy to stop when I want to take a photo. Sometimes from the bike, sometimes parking it on the side of the road and getting off.
It is a mountain bike so heading into forests or smaller, gravelled countryside roads are of no difficulty. People are always surprised when I say I don’t drive, but being used to biking - how could I?

What a wonderful way to start the day! Once I got home I had more coffee and breakfast, and then I got dressed, made a sandwhich, packed my bag and got ready to head out for a hike!
